Meet the Team:
Bas Straub
Bas is known for his knowledge and experience in the scientific publishing community. He majored in Marketing and Management of Scientific Publications at the Amsterdam University of Applied Science. He has worked for many publishers, including Elsevier, where he was responsible for the launch of the Elsevier Author Academy. In addition to managing Scholarly Insights, Bas is currently the Course Director for the STM Association’s Intensive Journal Course in Asia, and each January he organizes the pre-conference day at the Academic Publishing Europe event.
Bas is a passionate boxer.
Dr. Anke Beck
Anke held various executive positions in publishing. Amon others, she was Managing Director of De Gruyter Publishers, Berlin, Boston for many years before she moved on to London to become the CEO of IntechOpen Ltd., a pure Open Access book publisher. During her whole career, she was always keen to develop new areas for growth through collaborations and partnerships in the academia.
Anke also is a gladly looked for advisor in the Academia. She has been appointed to the Council of Digital Infrastructure of the Republic of Germany and serves on various advisory boards of universities and a Centre for Advanced Studies. In these positions she helps to supervise the work of the academic institutions and makes sure to stay in touch with the real needs of academics
Byron Russell, Business Development UK
Byron has been in publishing since 1986, and has worked with leading academic and education publishers such as Pearson, Macmillan and both Oxford and Cambridge University Presses. He has been involved in the digital transformation and delivery of academic content since 2014, working in senior management roles with the well-known Ingenta and HighWire platforms.
